New Features: Grow your email list with MARE micro-surveys

We’re happy to announce another release today of some great new tweaks and features to MARE.

Optin forms in your surveys

This is a feature that many users have asked for, and we’re happy to finally release.

You can now add an email optin form to your MARE surveys.

Here’s how the feature works.

When adding a new question, you will now see a new question type called “Email Form”

email-form-questionThis question type will create a question in your survey that looks similar to this:

email-formThe contacts collected through this form will be displayed in your survey results, but also in a new menu item called “Contacts.”

contacts-menuThe contacts menu will show all users who have opted in through your email form questions regardless of which survey they come from.

As mentioned below in the upcoming features section, we will be implementing integrations with popular email newsletter software in the next week or two that will allow you to upload this information directly to your newsletter software.

Better targeting for PLUS+ subscribers

We’ve implemented two new targeting features for our plus subscribers.

The first is to target by device. This allows you to target either Desktop or Mobile visitors specifically. This can be useful for segmenting your survey questions based on what device a respondent is using.

The second new targeting feature is to target by country. This is especially useful for multi-language sites, or for doing market research on your visitors from a new location.

Both of these features can be found under the display options of your survey.

Other upgrades

New lines in survey questions

Previously, survey questions would appear only on one line. This was problematic if you wanted to show users a long survey question, or if you had multiple sentences in your survey question.

We have improved this functionality so that if you enter multiple lines in the survey question, the same formatting will appear in your survey.

A small tweak, but we think this will allow for more and better survey question flexibility.

Performance updates

We’ve been really proud of how quickly MARE has grown, and how many new users we’ve been able to on board since launching.

However, with growth comes new issues, and one of them has been keeping up with exploding server demands.

That’s why with this week’s release, we’ve pushed out a bunch of performance enhancements that should improve survey performance moving forward.

Features being released soon

We have some exciting new features that will be coming out over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled for more announcements about these and other cool features that will help you to collect more survey data, and use it to help grow your business.

Skip logic

Skip logic will allow you to customize which questions a user sees based on their responses.

For example, if a user selects a rating of 4 stars, you can send them to an email opt-in form. If they select 2 stars, you can send them to a question that asks them why they chose such a low rating.

This feature is fantastic for determining tough usability issues, or collecting very customized survey data from your visitors and users.

Email newsletter integration

This ties in to our new email opt-in features. These integrations will allow you to send the email addresses you collect directly into your favorite email autoresponder program. Initial integrations will include Mailchimp, Aweber, Constant Contact and Campaign Monitor.

Custom thank you pages

This feature will allow you to show specific thank you pages to users based on their responses.

For example, if you want to send users to a landing page to buy your products after filling out a micro-survey, you can customize the link based on their responses. This allows you to send respondents to custom landing pages that will better match who they are, and what they’re looking for. More on this feature when it becomes available.

Conversion tracking

This feature will allow you tie in your conversion metrics with your survey data.

For example, you will be able to segment all of your survey data based on whether the respondent has become a customer (either before or after answering your survey).

This will give you insights into the type of customers that you have, and the types of customers that don’t end up buying or opting into your services or products. This information will allow you to further optimize your sales pages for your user base.

That’s why with this week’s release, we’ve pushed out a bunch of performance enhancements that should improve survey performance moving forward.

Your turn

It’s time to go forth and survey your traffic. The features announced above are live in your account right now (or available to new accounts).
